as you watched your grandchildren play.
When, occasionally you would walk on the grass
enjoying the wonderful day.
We would sit together and you’d give us advice
On how to prepare for our future.
You told us life wasn’t easy,
Yet that was only a reason for us to strive harder.
Your smile brought joy and peace to the home
Your words brought comfort and love
You were a man of your word, so strong in your faith
Your belief so strong and firm.
But a time came when you had to leave
to go and meet with your Creator.
Time healed our pain, and now we smile,
as we think how lucky we were,
to have someone like you be a part of our lives.
