Hubby in a Nutshell

Over the last few days I’ve been contemplating on whether to write about a personality that has recently entered my life; my husband. Those who are married may just understand where I am coming from.

It has been 2 1/2 months since I tied the knot with Asif, and just over a year since I met him for the first time, and yet I feel as if he has been there forever! Friends and family told me marriage is special; the Holy Prophet (SAW) declared it as completing half your faith; and now, having taken this step, I can see why.

Marriage is a wonderful feeling, but comes with many challenges for the girl; moving homes, adjusting to a new family life, and having the opposite gender play an active role in her day to day life. It comes with obstacles; the girl is no longer thinking just about herself anymore. She must consider her husband, her extended family, and her duties as a married woman.

Mum’s a Miracle!

Marking 23 years of a wonderful life blessed by the Almighty, I decided to re-launch my blog in a new light; not only to write frequent blog entries but to also pursue learning about our wonderful religion through different channels.

I’d like to dedicate my first blog to a wonderful and important person in my life; my mother. Having recently gotten married, and moved into a new home, I now realise what a precious personality she is.

Mum, I have expressed my truest emotions to you; told you of my innermost worries and thoughts, and it has been the best feeling to have such an amazing relationship with you! Truly there is nobody like a mother in one’s life.

Siblings!

When we sometimes sit and think of the generations above

We see they often interpreted differently the common link of ‘love’

Between siblings of all ages, sometimes a relation loosely tattered

Or in other homes, the strongest link, brothers and sisters mattered

I observe, I see, and I think to myself, how have I kept up with you?

Have you understand how much you mean to me, and that you are one of few?

Quarreled we have, and argued at times, but in the end it’s all resolved

For the bond we have, unique to us, will never come to dissolve.

In love with all four!

So when the first one came, I said ‘this was it!’
I was sure the warmth would always last,
The ‘just right’ breeze and the morning glory
But it didn’t take long before it passed,
I claimed I loved, and this was the best
Neither extreme, but I spoke too fast…

Ecstatic Ascension

Me’raj-ul-Mo’min

The time has come for me to pray,
I set aside my work and play
To the prayer room I make my way
To perform that which will bring success in my day

Ablution I do, to purify within
Wash my face, asking God to hid my sin
Wipe my arms pleading to Him sincere
Receiving my book of deeds in the left, I fear

The last I do before I stand to pray
Is wipe my feet, God don’t let me sway
Let the places I enter be pure and clean
Not places that are rejected by my Deen

Thinking of You (9 Years Nanabapa)

I was walking by the riverside, thinking of you
It has been nine years since you have passed on,
As I recalled the memories we once shared,
I thought, people like you, there are such few.

You lived life and thanked god for every day
When times were good and times were bad
Had man known the troubles you faced,
They would not have said what you would say
