I was walking by the riverside, thinking of you
It has been nine years since you have passed on,
As I recalled the memories we once shared,
I thought, people like you, there are such few.

You lived life and thanked god for every day
When times were good and times were bad
Had man known the troubles you faced,
They would not have said what you would say

In a place so dark and cold you were
For four months and a few days
The encounter you faced, you recorded
Making family’s and friends’ emotions stir

Yet through troubled times you were still so strong
So faithful and so devoted
I pray for the power of faith that you had
Because difficulties of life seems so long

I still walk by the riverside some days
And I still think of you as I go,
How lucky I was to have you in my life
A grandfather so wise in his ways

Your legacy you left behind, admired by many
Practiced and followed by few
God give me the strength to be one of those
Firm in faith, not just one of any

My grandfather, my motivation to strive
The example you set so immaculate
In the way of the Lord, and His chosen ones
Let that be the answer to success in all our lives

Thank You, Thank you for giving me life.
