This is the colour I carry with me,
As though my natural colours feel muted,
Those moments don’t fade or disappear,
As though the gray in me remains deeply rooted.

Moments stretch to encompass each memory,
Like darkening clouds, heavy and low,
This story of gray constantly sharpens my spirit,
And yet marking my soul, with a subtle glow.

This hue; it’s the journey in multiple shades,
Resilience shields the gray of pain,
I search for colour, for hope and for joy,
For those clouds to sigh, to release their rain.

How does one embrace this deafening gray,
While it paints loss not once, but many times?
How does one find beauty in its tone,
When colour is all that its guardian pines?
