Me’raj-ul-Mo’min
The time has come for me to pray,
I set aside my work and play
To the prayer room I make my way
To perform that which will bring success in my day
Ablution I do, to purify within
Wash my face, asking God to hid my sin
Wipe my arms pleading to Him sincere
Receiving my book of deeds in the left, I fear
The last I do before I stand to pray
Is wipe my feet, God don’t let me sway
Let the places I enter be pure and clean
Not places that are rejected by my Deen
I lay my prayer mat, and place a block of sand
Which soon my forehead will meet, a piece of holy land
My mind I clear and my thoughts I erase
Now is only time dedicated to God’s praise
I feel my heart shudder, as I stand to talk with my Lord
The matters of this world to interfere, I cannot afford
My intention of prayer, my lips carefully utter
This is my time with God, my heart and mind don’t stutter
I begin in His name, and raise my hands to my ears
God is Great, I bear witness and know He hears
Keep me on the path that’s straight, is what I say
I believe in One God, no partners, and to Him alone I pray
My oath to Him is complete, and I bend with each hand on each knee
You are so High my Lord, I’m caged in this world, and only here I can be free
Glory be to You, for every blessing and mercy of Yours
Smaller than a speck of dust I am, yet you never close Your doors
I stand again, and attest that you can hear my praise
Only you can help me, to amend my ways
Then I prostrate to You, now I’m in the best of form
This dust I shall meet with at the extinguishing of dawn
I cry, I weep, my Lord only You know me so true
That which I plead for, I beg for, I ask for from You
Glory be to you again, this time you are Higher
Please look my way, my situation is so dire
I cannot manage alone, this journey before me
Remove the veil from my heart that prevents me to see
I have attested by tongue, that You are the Power
I have left everything to pray to you, just at this hour
So help my heart and mind coincide with my tongue
I must move forward and progress, my faith is still young
So I stand again, and repeat all that I say
For no other reason, than to reaffirm and not sway
To remind myself of my roots, my religion, and my goal
This is my ascension to the heavens, this is freedom of my soul
Glory be to Him, I attest once more
Praise be to him, who never closes His door
There is none but You, the Knower of everything
God, You are the Greatest, my heart will always sing
This time after my oath, I raise my hands towards You
Forgive me my Lord, for all the wrong that I do
I ask for my wishes and desires from only my Majesty
God grant all Muslims worldwide, a bond of unity
And again I bow, and kneel and prostrate
Reminding myself, to Him, it is never too late
For I will get up again and repeat His praise
In His obedience, and by His will, He will flourish my days
He will flourish my every moment, my every breath,
As long as my intention is for Him, till my moment of death.
And in return I promise, to pray to Him and be true
I promise to remember Him in every action I do
