Hubby in a Nutshell

Over the last few days I’ve been contemplating on whether to write about a personality that has recently entered my life; my husband. Those who are married may just understand where I am coming from.

It has been 2 1/2 months since I tied the knot with Asif, and just over a year since I met him for the first time, and yet I feel as if he has been there forever! Friends and family told me marriage is special; the Holy Prophet (SAW) declared it as completing half your faith; and now, having taken this step, I can see why.

Marriage is a wonderful feeling, but comes with many challenges for the girl; moving homes, adjusting to a new family life, and having the opposite gender play an active role in her day to day life. It comes with obstacles; the girl is no longer thinking just about herself anymore. She must consider her husband, her extended family, and her duties as a married woman.

A Beacon of our Community

The urge to pen a thought, since the early hours of the morning when I heard the heartbreaking news, has been nothing short of a feeling that I must pay tribute to this wonderful lady. There are certain people who come into your life, leave an everlasting impact, and before you know it, they are gone from this world.

Subconsciously, these very people that you expected to be there beside you always, ever-present wherever you go. Marhuma Zehrabai was one of those.

Saturday, 1st January, 2011 – we have been at the center since morning. Throughout the course of the day, I couldn’t help but look towards the entrance, half expecting this radiant lady to walk in at any time, and take comfort in her usual corner where she would sit. How time flies, when you sit and think
of someone who has left this world.

How the days pass, but the memories don’t fade,
they just replay in your mind.

Let me rewind the tape,
back to the days, when you were still alive…

Grandfather, do you remember the times….
When you would sit back, and smile
as you watched your grandchildren play.

When, occasionally you would walk on the grass
enjoying the wonderful day.
